Private House, Lyme Regis

Lyme Regis is situated in Dorset and is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. It is known for its internationally important geology and the fossils that are still found on the beach and from the leading edge of the slumping clays along the coastline.

I was commissioned to create a feature point within the hall of a private house in Lyme Regis. This also was to act as a light source onto an internal staircase. My Clients and I explored the nearby sea line, marvelling at the profusion of exquisite ammonites fossilised in the rocks. My design reflected their three-dimensionality and haunting beauty. The panel was created by slumping over ammonite forms and applying glass frits and paints.
