Compton Hospice, Wolverhampton

Compton Hospice is a Wolverhampton based charity which has been supporting patients facing a life-limiting illness and their families for over 30 years. I was asked by the Hospice to establish an art programme in collaboration with patients, staff and bereaved family members.

Their resulting work was located in the main Patients’ Lounge and comprised of a ‘Glass Memory Blanket’ based around the concept of American Native Indian dream catchers with memories captured as they rise up from the lounge into the sunlight of the light well. There was also a glass screen where participants captured their individual memories onto slips of glass and I then incorporated these into the screen which acted as a permanent memorial to former patients.
